Welcome to our Site! Welcome to our new blog & website, the one and only home of all things Ella Blue!  We're so excited to share this amazing collaboration with you all.  After many long hours of mind-melting over hot mugs of coffee, our ideas and inner voices have finally materialized into an amazing website & blog combination that truly represents who we are as a boutique photography company.  Our hope is that this won't simply be a place for people to come and look at photos, but a place where you can experience the things that drive us to create.  So please, enjoy some of our favorite songs, get to know us, and share in some of the most impressionable moments in people's lives.

Early Monday morning we head off to Coeur D'Alene for our annual family vacation with our good friends. We are more than ready to head out of town and live carefree for a week swimming, sunning, biking. In the evenings we'll be sipping wine and having deep conversations with old friends.

I had to post this sweet image from my session with the Starr family earlier today. Isn't she pretty? Her baby sister's name is Ella, I'm especially fond of that name :)

We flew to California's wine country Memorial Day weekend for one of the most unique weddings we ever photographed. After settling into our hotel, we rented a tandem bike and toured Healdsburg wine country. We opted to ride West Dry Creek Road, a 12 mile loop that winds through the most beautiful wineries in the area. Our first stop was Lambert, a small winery producing a limited amount of cases per year. One of the only wineries in Sonoma to sort their fruit by hand. The best part of their tasting room was the gigantic St. Bernard puppy, Bernie, napping lazily on the floor.

We hopped back onto the tandem and headed to Preston, a certified organic winery at the end of a very long dirt road. This was by far my favorite winery out of the four we visited. It was so laid back, full of vintage nicknacks and fresh vegetables. I could have spent all day picnicking in their gardens.

Our next stop was Bella. You really have to visit this winery to grasp how amazing it is. The tasting room is in a cave underneath the vineyard. It's full of warm ambient light, rustic modern decor and oak barrels lining the walls. Just outside of the cave was a grassy lawn full of families dancing and hula hooping as the band played Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl."

We were sad to leave Bella but we needed to begin our journey back to town. We made one last stop at Mauritson, their refreshing chardonnay gave us the last boost of energy we needed to get back to Spoke Folk. I don't think the bike shop owners thought we'd make it but we did and we enjoyed every minute of it.

We used our iphone to document our weekend using the really fun and retro Hipstamatic app:

I'm so jealous; I love Healdsburg! Jason actually lived really close to there the summer before we got married. One of my favorite finds there was the market square weekend flea market. It was fantastic! Oh, this brings back lots of good memories. Look forward to seeing more from the wedding and trip.

We caught her with scissors in hand. At least it wasn't her hair.

Oh my, that's hilarious! I'm sure not when it happened, but look at those curtains. Like they've gone all 80's and want a bad short fringe.

Wow, that is hilarious! Taking a picture would not have been my first reaction :) Way to go, Crystal for documenting this!
