Welcome to our Site! Welcome to our new blog & website, the one and only home of all things Ella Blue!  We're so excited to share this amazing collaboration with you all.  After many long hours of mind-melting over hot mugs of coffee, our ideas and inner voices have finally materialized into an amazing website & blog combination that truly represents who we are as a boutique photography company.  Our hope is that this won't simply be a place for people to come and look at photos, but a place where you can experience the things that drive us to create.  So please, enjoy some of our favorite songs, get to know us, and share in some of the most impressionable moments in people's lives.

We met Aaron & Martha a couple of years ago when they contacted us about taking some photos for their business, Sound Playback Productions. When Martha contacted us this time, it was for a different kind of session...maternity. She was stunning the day of the shoot, 8 months pregnant and glowing. Martha & Aaron are going to be great parents and we are so excited to meet their new little one when he or she arrives. They have some pretty awesome names picked out too....

Heather says:

oh i remember these two cuties. I just love the light in these! the last three are my favs, something about baby bellies makes me lean toward B&W. am not sure why, but I think it gives it that timeless look, like it could be our mom or grandmas in the photos. where we all started from, makes me think of the circle of life. lovely as always you two!

Who would have known that such a gray, overcast day would lead to this. It is kind of strange and hard to believe that it is us in these photos. It is wonderful to see things through your perspective. Look at the light and the color! The rocks, Aaron’s Earth shirt and my stomach make us smile. Our favorites are under the trees, on the bridge, and by the fence (the third/right, fourth/left, fifth, and sixth images are my absolute favorites). This is how I would like to remember things. Thank you Crystal and Jason!

We're not certain whether this is a maternity shoot or just a good ol' fashioned portrait session...you decide.

I was at my parents' beach house the other night with Jason & the kids.  After a nice home-cooked meal, my dad lit a campfire.  The setting sun and clouds painted the sky over Vashon Island in rich purples and oranges.  Before I even realized all the salmon jumping in and out of the water, Jason and the kids were already knee-deep with their fishing lines in the water.  They didn't catch anything, but it didn't seem to matter.  There they were, all in a row under the sky, casting their lines in silence.  Moments like these are there waiting for us all the time.  Waiting for us to stop and absorb the wonder that's around us always.

Photographing the early life of a child is a rare opportunity to save moments like these forever.  This is Brady...and he's seizing the day.
