Welcome to our Site! Welcome to our new blog & website, the one and only home of all things Ella Blue!  We're so excited to share this amazing collaboration with you all.  After many long hours of mind-melting over hot mugs of coffee, our ideas and inner voices have finally materialized into an amazing website & blog combination that truly represents who we are as a boutique photography company.  Our hope is that this won't simply be a place for people to come and look at photos, but a place where you can experience the things that drive us to create.  So please, enjoy some of our favorite songs, get to know us, and share in some of the most impressionable moments in people's lives.

I spent a warm summer evening last week with this beautiful family and couldn't believe how perfectly happy they all were, I knew right away it was going to be a great session. Dr. Seuss, bubbles and giant lollipops, what could be more fun than that?!

August 8, Portraits
"If one feels the need of something grand, something infinite, something that makes one feel aware of God, one need not go far to find it.  I think that I see something deeper, more infinite, more eternal than the ocean in the expression of the eyes of a little baby when it wakes in the morning and coos or laughs because it sees the sun shining on its cradle" -Vincent van Gogh

Together we spent one of the hottest evenings in Seattle history.  Their engagement session was amazing, despite the heat.  We began at their quaint little Greenwood home, complete with a dog, a cat, and a sunroom with recycled bowling alley floors...the perfect place to start.  We ended up at Carkeek Park, which is beautifully situated on the water's edge, with a breathtaking view of the setting sun.  Stacy & Ryan: You two were perfect...congratulations on your upcoming Hawaiian wedding!

With Zahid & Poonam, it was our first time shooting an engagement session, but not the wedding to follow.  They'll get married in two weeks in Canada, where they both live.  Jen & Steve Bebb are shooting their wedding, and I'm sure they'll take great care of them :)

We met Zahid & Poonam in Seattle for their shoot.  We found ourselves caught up in the moments and very at ease with each other, which lent itself to an amazing session.  We wound up at Golden Gardens just before sunset...the light was unbelievable.  After stealing a few shots beneath the tall canopy of trees, we wandered out through the grass and onto the sandy beach.  In a moment of spontaneity, I asked Zahid if he would give Poonam a piggy-back-ride out to the water.  I think she made the decision to jump onto his back before what I had said actually registered to Zahid :)  They both fell to the sand and we all had a good laugh.

What happened next wasn't in the script.  As they stood to their feet, Poonam's left arm flew outward to balance herself.  As it did, her engagement ring slid right off her finger.  Nobody saw where it went; it was gone.  We were standing in deep beach sand, with a quickly setting sun and no place to begin.  The four of us spent the next hour on our hands and knees, sifting through the grains of sand and playing the odds.  It was nearly dark and our hope was dwindling fast.  All of a sudden, we turned to see Zahid on his hands and knees, head hung toward the sand, and hand held high.  He found it!  Somehow, some way, Zahid managed to find the ring that had been buried somewhere in the sand.  The two vertical images toward the end of this post show Poonam's emotional response.

So relieved they found the ring! I thought that this was going to be a very sad engagement sesh for a second there. I am loving the flare and the way you use the light by the market. Beautiful!
